HemaClear 90 Surgical Tourniquet

Overview

HemaClear 90 Surgical Tourniquet is best used in large lower extremity procedures, and has a high pressure level of 160 mmHg, it's black and white handles make it easily identifiable. HemaClear Surgical Tourniquets are the first advance in this field for over 100 years, delivering up to 95% exsanguination compared to 60% with current techniques. HemaClear is the premier bloodless surgical solution for a safer, more effective, more productive approach to orthopaedic procedures.

The revolutionary yet simple bloodless surgical solution to safer, more effective and more productive orthopaedic limb procedures. HemaClear enhances visibility while simplifying extremity surgery by offering a streamlined alternative to the cumbersome traditional exsanguination an occlusion techniques that achieves up to 95% exsanguination compared to 60% with current techniques. And delivers a blood-free sterile surgical field for proximal OR distal upper and lower extremity surgeries.

THE COMPLETE SOLUTION:

Simple:

- One device, easy application, no machines or additional materials necessary.

- Instantly achieves complete exsanguination and consistent occlusion.

- Placement of the sterile stockinet in 12 seconds or less.

Safe:

- Sterile, single use device.

- Lower occlusion pressure on the vessels and nerves reduces the risk for tourniquet paralysis.

- Consistent occlusion reduces blood loss.

- Superior exsanguination leaves no blood behind in the limb which may reduce DVT and PE.

Revolutionary Design:

- Easy application - saves valuable time.

- Improves visibility - surgeon can concentrate on the procedure.

- Narrow profile - larger operating space.

- Factory calibrated eliminates the risk of tourniquet failure, providing 2 hours of blood free surgery.

Product Details:

- Full range of sizes from paediatric to obese patients.

- Circumference from 14 - 90 cm.

- Colour-coded sizes for easy applications.

- Narrow design allows more operating space on appendages.

1. What is HemaClear?

HemaClear is the first self-contained, sterile, exsanguinating tourniquet that creates a bloddless field in seconds. HemaClear performs three functions: blood removal (exsanguination), arterial flow occlusion, and automatic application of the sterile stockinet. HemaClear replaces traditional devices, completely eliminating the need for a tourniquet machine, tourniquet cuff, Esmarch bandage, webril and a stickinet. Perhaps most advantageous of all, from a logistics point of view, HemaClear is self-contained and requires absolutely no connections or a power source.

2. How does HemaClear work?

The surgeon simply places the ring on the fingers (or toes) of the patient and then pulls the handles proximally. The silicone ring rolls up the limb while the stockinet sleeve covers it, exerting enough pressure to squeeze all the blood out and then block it at the occlusion site. Once applied, HemaClear becomes a sterile, single-use tourniquet that provides the surgeon with a much larger surgical field with greater visibility, enhancing both performance and outcome.

3. What are the advantages of using HemaClear?

  • Guaranteed sterility in a disposable, single use device

  • Superior exsanguinations and consisten occlusion in one swift motion

  • Easy to use, applied in seconds

  • Enhances visibility of anatomical structures

  • Requires no connections or an external power source

  • Unique design maximises the size and clarity of the sterile surgical field

  • Delivers better pressure distribution, reducing the risk of nerve injury

  • Cost-effective--saves valuable time and raw materials

  • May rediuce the risks and costs associated with surgical site infections, blood loss and DVT/PE complications.

4. How and when is HemaClear most often used?

HemaClear can be used in any type of extremity surgery where a bloodless field is required on a pediatric or adult patient. HemaClear can also be used in a hospital environment, surgical centre, doctor, or even in the field under the most adverse conditions, as it was in the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti. HemaClear can be used in a wide variety of applications, including routine orthopaedic surgery (trigger finger, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, TKR), trauma, limb deformity and free flap.

5. How long can HemaClear remain on the limb?

HemaClear can remain on the limb for 120 minutes.

6. What do I do if the procedure runs longer than 2 hours?

If a procedure runs longer than 2 hours, the HemaClear device is removed and after the reperfusion period, a new sterile unit is rolled into place.

7. How much pressure does HemaClear exert?

The pressure is comparable to the traditional tourniquet system at around 250 mmHg for the upper limb and 350 mmHg on lower limb. The exact pressure depends on the model used, the circumference at the occlusion location, and the distance from there to the tips of the fingers or toes and can be easily deduced from the pressure table in the product manual.
